A long time ago, during a life that Raleigh barely recognizes as his own, he had been the son of an Eorzean merchant who ran everything from spices to pottery between the east, west, and everywhere in between. He never had an easy life, and this youth was no exception. But it was the happiest he can recall being. His father, his business partner and their crew made a hard and fair living on the sea.
As he grew Raleigh learned most every language he could be expected to know to take up his father's buisness. He learned practical skills, how to balance books and how to negotiate. Thanks to the influence of their business partner, a scarred and intimidating viera by the name of Rjsha Fyth, he also learned how to defend himself with the use of chakrams and a bit about working with magitek.
Things persisted in this busy but all together quiet way until one bad storm that changed his life. One bad storm that blew their ship onto the rocks on the shore of then Garlean occupied Doma. The ship, the hold, and the crew were lost in the storm. Lost or washed away, Raleigh only knew he and his father had made it out and washed ashore to be greeted by a Garlean patrol.
It was all bad luck, wrong place and wrong time. But that bad luck made a then thirteen year old Raleigh and his father part of Garlemald's captive workforce. His father's experience and trade contacts were useful enough to give the pair of them some value, and it allowed Raleigh time to continue his studies. Though they only spent three years like this, Raleigh remembers it acutely as being very tense, frightening and unpredictable.
This came to another catastrophe as his father, a true Eorzean patriot, tried to use his vantage point as a trader for Garlemald to pass what intelligence he could get to any resistance groups he could find, which went well for a while, until he was executed for these actions, and Raleigh was left abandoned at the age of sixteen.
Not having the skills his father possessed in trade, an attempt was made to enlist him into the Garlean army. But unfortunately there were no chakrams in the Garlean armory, so Raleigh was instead sent to toil in underground mines.
He spent a long time mining. A long time in the dark, picking at walls and loading carts, driving magitek drills and being tired all the time. It was there that Raleigh lost track of his life and of time itself. He had no idea how long he was down there, or where he even was. Raleigh only found out it'd been Ala Mhigo when one day members of the resistance came and told he and his fellow miners they could leave, they were free.
Raleigh didn't know what to do.
He stayed there for a while, since it had become all that he was, but eventually he was the last one there, and even he had to leave. He traveled some, to the far east where he thought he might find a familiar feeling of his distant childhood. There was no such nostalgia for him there, so he went back to Eorzea and tried to make a life for himself, or at least figure out who he is.

Hi thanks for your interest in my son, he's awful.
Here's a few limits before we get started:
- ERP is fine, but Raleigh is not an ERP alt. He is flirtatious, but seriously, that's not what my rp is all about. Just tell him no and the scene can move on to other things. Similarly, if there's gonna be ERP, it's got to be because there was actually solid and logical character interaction first.
- I prefer not to rp with anyone who isnt 18+ and I defo wont ERP with anyone that isnt.
- I dont like plot points that endanger children, involve rape or non consensual sex.
- I prefer to rp in game, but discord is okay too if it's hard to meet up in game.
- Please I will literally rp basically anything with anyone just take my garbage son
